Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján Announces New Leadership Staff

Washington, D.C. – Today, Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján announced that he has named Angela Ramirez to lead his leadership office, Hans Goff and Carlos Sanchez to manage general Member services, and Ashley Jones to focus on new Member outreach as a part of his incoming leadership staff.

 

“This incredible team brings with them the depth of knowledge, broad experience, and deep commitment to their work that is needed to advance our Democratic agenda. I’m thrilled to have their support in the 116th Congress as we work to deliver reforms for the American people,” said Luján.

 

Goff previously served as the Director of Member Engagement and Political Strategy at the DCCC. Before joining the DCCC, he served on the Hillary for America presidential campaign and held numerous roles with the campaign including National Political Desk. He started his career in municipal government.

 

Jones previously served as Chief of Staff to Brad Schneider (D-IL). Prior to that she served as the Assistant United States Trade Representative for Private Sector Engagement under the Obama Administration. Jones has also managed communications, stakeholder outreach, and member services for the Energy and Commerce Committee, and served as Chief of Staff to former Congressman John Barrow (D-GA).

 

Ramirez has worked as Chief of Staff in Congressman Luján’s office since he was first elected to Congress. During her tenure, Luján was named a Member of the Energy & Commerce Committee, served as Chief Deputy Whip, was elected CHC Bold Pac Chair and Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Before serving as Luján’s Chief of Staff, Ramirez worked as the Executive Director of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.   

 

Sanchez previously served as the Executive Director for the Democratic Caucus, serving as the Chairman’s chief political advisor. Prior to working for the Democratic Caucus, Sanchez was the Deputy National Political Director for Hillary for America. He has also served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Joaquin Castro (D-TX), and as Press Secretary and Advisor to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
